Prof. Stefano Paraboschi, University of Bergamo

Abstract

Computer Security is an increasingly important topic, with an impact on many industrial and research domains. This lecture will present the core concepts that underlie the technologies used in this area. The Confidentiality-Integrity Availability paradigm will be described, looking at the main aspects that have to be taken into account in the implementation of each of the services. A concise classification of the main cryptographic primitives will be provided. A perspective on the evolution of this field will be offered.

Prof. Stefano Paraboschi is a Professor at Università degli Studi di Bergamo. His research has focused on several areas in the computer science field. He has worked in the database and information system area (specifically on active rules, view management, data warehouses, workflow management systems), Web technologies (data intensive Web sites, XML). The focus of his research has since moved to the area of data protection and computer security (security for databases, access control for XML and Web services, secure reputation in P2P networks, data outsourcing, privacy). His research has been supported by many grants, by Italian and international institutions.
