Now in its 7th edition, the CI-LAM (China Italy-Laboratory on Advanced Manufacturing) Summer School held in Italy for this year has been happily completed.

This new edition of the Sino-Italian CI-LAM Summer School ended with great success. This year, held on Italian territory between Naples and Bergamo, it was held from 7 to 18 July 2025. As is now customary in the activities of the CI-LAM Project, the event represents an important platform for academic and cultural exchange in the field of research in the field of Advanced Production. The participants from China were a total of 51 from 5 different universities: Tsinghua, Capital Normal, Beijing Technology and Shanghai Dijian. Who with their colleagues from Federico II participated in the activities in Naples in the first week and then they all joined, even with their colleagues from Bergamo, in Bergamo for the second week of activities

The intense program of lectures, seen in workshops and cultural visits of the two weeks, took place thanks to the important contribution from internationally renowned experts and professors at the participating universities and also thanks to the contribution of the company SPICI where the students, at the headquarters of Fabbrica Italiana dell’Innovazione, participated in Hackathon on “Business Creation”.

For the seminar activities, topics covered included highly relevant topics such as Green Industrial Internet of Things, Edge Intelligent Computing in Energy Harvesting Systems, Additive Manufacturing, Design and Control of Precision Opto-Mechatronic Systems, Machine Learning for Next-Gen Networks: Trends and Technologies, From Industrial Arms to Humanoids: A Journey Through 50 Years of Robotics, and AI Driven Advanced Power Electronics Technology. The training activities were complemented by practical experiences in the laboratories of the University of Bergamo, as well as visits to important manufacturing companies at the “Kilometro Rosso” facility.

The closing ceremony on 18 July was held in the Aula Magna of Palazzo Bassi Rathgeb (headquarters of the University of Bergamo), and saw the participation of Prof. Fabiana Pirola who oversaw the organization of the School in Bergamo as well as Chinese teachers and guests who held some of the lessons: Prof. Chenxuan Zhu Prof, Jian Wang,  Prof. Jianzhuo Yan, Prof. Kai Sun, Prof. Keni Qiu, Prof. Pinjia Zhang Prof. Rongrong Zhang, Prof. Zhen Zhang, Prof. Zhisong Li and Prof. Zhixuan Wu

During the event, the importance of the CI-LAM Summer School as a platform for the exchange of knowledge and culture was emphasized, expressing the hope for an even deeper cooperation between China and Italy in the future.

The eighth edition in China has been set for July 2026.
